What is the Challow Novices’ Hurdle?

The Challow Novices’ Hurdle is a Grade 1 contest run over 2 miles, 4 furlongs and 118 yards at Newbury in late December. As the name suggests, the race is open to horses aged four years and upwards who, at the start of the current season, have yet to win a hurdle race. At the time of its inauguration in 1971, the race was a ‘juvenile’ hurdle – that is, restricted to horses aged three years at the start of the current season – but older horses were admitted a decade later. The Challow Hurdle was awarded Grade 1 status in 1991.

Undoubtedly the best horse to win the Challow Novices’ Hurdle was Denman who, on New Year’s Day, 2006, easily beat The Cool Guy by 21 lengths – ‘in the style of one destined for the very top’, according to Timeform – in a rescheduled event at Cheltenham after the original Newbury fixture was abandoned due to frost. Denman, of course, went on to win the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup at successive Cheltenham Festivals and was awarded a Timeform Annual Rating of 183.

The 2022 running of the Challow Novices’ Hurdle is scheduled for Saturday, December 31, when it is the feature race on a seven-race card at the Berkshire course. At the time of writing, the clocks are yet to go back and the start of the National Hunt season proper is still some weeks away, so ante-post prices for the Challow Novices’ Hurdle are not yet available. However, reigning champion trainer Paul Nicholls has won the race four times, including the last twice, so his entries are always worth a second look. Leading ‘bumper’ performers Henri The Second and Timeforatune are just two promising types set to go over hurdles for the Ditcheat handler in the coming season.

Advantages of Betting on Horse Racing Online

horse racing online advantages

In the past, horse racing was more than a sports event. Instead, it was a social event where people could dress up, mingle and spend quality time outdoors with friends and family.

The situation is slightly different now, but horse racing hasn’t lost popularity, and people still like to watch and bet on it. However, as change is the only constant in the world, horse race betting also underwent some changes. Or, better say, it was enhanced as online betting came to the scene.

Today, we discuss online sports betting. Specifically, we uncover the advantages of betting on horse racing online.

No Time or Place Limitations

Although watching a horse race live is an adventure on its own due to the atmosphere and thrill, it is an expensive and time-consuming endeavor for many.

For instance, those who don’t have a track nearby must travel to the nearest one and spend money on travel costs, accommodations, and food; don’t forget the money you plan to spend on wagering. Also, some people may have to ask for a day off from work to come to a racetrack.

Betting on horse racing online takes all this burden off the bettor’s back, as they can bet anytime from the comfort of their home. In addition, as we all use smartphones, you can even place bets while waiting in the post office. The only condition is to have a good internet connection.

It’s Easy and Safe

Once you decide to explore horse racing online, you are just a couple of clicks away from placing your first bet. But, before that, you must find a reliable platform.

The good thing is the online space is packed with bookmakers waiting to welcome you. Still, it’s easy to come across scammers, so make sure an online book you decide to join is trustworthy. You should pay attention to a couple of things, including the licenses and security measures in place.

Make a list of a couple of sites and examine them. Scroll down their home page and see if there is any information regarding the permits they hold and the authority issuing them. In case you don’t find it there, go through other sections, for instance, ”About us,” and look if there is something confirming they operate by the book.

Another critical thing is security. Reputable betting sites will protect their members’ data using different technologies. For instance, see if the sportsbook uses SSL encryption.

Creating an Account Takes a Couple of Minutes

Now comes the straightforward part. You have found the site and want to start wagering. However, a critical step is ahead of you – creating an account.

It depends on the platform, but in most cases, you will have to enter a couple of pieces of information, such as your name, phone number, email address, and credit card number. Once the process is finalized, you are ready to go.

Virtual Space Offers Virtual Sports

One of the things motivating people to start betting on sports, including horse racing, is their love for a particular sport, team, player, or event. It is their way to enjoy the matches/races, and, why not, spice it up with a bit of adrenaline and potentially win?

But things happen, and matches/races get canceled for a variety of reasons. That’s why sportsbooks have come up with a way to provide an exceptional member experience to their bettors despite the external circumstances. The solution lies in virtual sports games.

Online sportsbooks offer simulated sports events, including horse racing, created by reputable software developers. It is an excellent source of entertainment but also a way to continue betting – a win-win situation for both a bookmaker and a bettor.

Two Words: Better Odds

As we mentioned, the online betting space is packed with options, and bookmakers must develop strategies to stand out. One of the most effective is the odds offer. The better the offer is, the more extensive the member base will be.

That’s also the advantage that makes online horse racing more attractive than going to a land-based sportsbook shop. In addition, betting on horse racing online enables you to compare odds. Yes, you will have to visit/register on a couple of sites, but the outcome will outweigh the initial investment of time spent on research.

The Beauty of Bonuses

Finally, opting for online horse racing is an excellent move because you can enjoy various incentives. The most beautiful ones are in the form of bonuses and promotions.

For instance, sign-up bonuses are reserved for newcomers. It is usually a matching amount to your first bonus (up to a certain sum). On the other hand, loyal members can enjoy promotion programs and request a reload or cash-back bonus.

Still, you must meet specific terms and conditions to qualify for a particular perk. Therefore, before saying yes to an online sportsbook, learn about these and see if they suit you.

The sports betting space will continue to grow, and it’s yet to be seen what the future holds. But one thing is for sure. Horse racing will remain a significant part of it as more and more people see the advantages of enjoying and betting on it online.

What to Expect in Breeders’ Cup 2022

The Breeders’ Cup is packed with exciting on-track and off-track events, celebrity sightings, fashionable attire, and delectable cuisine prepared by Michelin-starred chefs. This year’s Breeders’ Cup will be held on November 4 and 5 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky.

Of course, every Breeders’ Cup season concludes with the World Championships. It is the year’s highlight event for thoroughbred horses, jockeys, trainers, and owners worldwide, featuring fourteen races over two days. Many people will witness the races, so it’s helpful to know what to expect in this annual sporting event. Now, let’s see what the Breeders’ Cup offers for 2022.

The Venue: Keeneland

Every year, the Breeders’ Cup is held at a different venue. After a spectacular November at Del Mar in 2018, the event will return to Keeneland in 2022. This is the third time the race has been held at the Lexington track and the second time in the last three years that the sport’s biggest names have raced over Keeneland.

In 2020, when the event was last held at Keeneland, Authentic triumphed in a thrilling victory by a margin of two and a quarter lengths. Knicks Go won the Dirt Mile at the same meet, and Tarnawa won the Turf.

Schedule and Streaming

Future Stars Friday, featuring the five 2-year-old World Championships races, kicks off the 39th Breeders’ Cup on November 4. The first of Friday’s ten races is scheduled to go off at 11:55 am. ET, with the first of five undercard races taking place earlier.

NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and FanDuel TV will all air live coverage of the two-day championship event. The first day of this year’s World Championships will be televised from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm ET on USA Network and other major TV networks.

The Races

A number of the world’s best horses are expected to compete in these 14 Breeders Cup races in 2022.

Breeders’ Cup Classic

Competing for the title at the 1 1/4 mile track are the best racehorses of all ages. Flightline, Epicenter, and Happy Saver might all be in the running for the top spot.

Breeders’ Cup Turf

Many horses from other countries have succeeded in the turf cup since it is run on a 1 1/2-mile turf track. All the top turf horses in the world go here to compete against their American and Canadian competitors.

When it comes to horse races, the track and distance at Keeneland typically favor horses from Ireland and England. Midway through October, after Champions Day at Ascot, spectators will have a good idea of the most promising contenders. Mishriff, who did not participate in the 2017 competition, will be there this year. Vadeni, Desert Crown, and Luxembourg are also expected to appear in the race.

Breeders’ Cup Mile

European horses could be strong candidates in the Mile, much as they were in the Breeders’ Cup Turf. The presence of elite European B-stringers in this race attracts a lot of punters outside of Europe. Ivar, whose most recent race was on September 17 at Woodbine, is one such prospect and Going Global, a leading Californian contender. In Love is a local contender who’s also favored to win the race.

Breeders’ Cup Sprint

This race, held over six furlongs on dirt, ends in the blink of an eye. For 2022, Steve Asmussen could try again with Jackie’s Warrior or Gunite, horses that helped him win in the past. Jack Christopher and Cody’s Wish are two additional top choices.

Breeder’s Cup Distaff

The top mares and fillies in the country compete in this 1 1/8-mile race. Secret Oath, Letruska, and Malathaat, winner of the 2021 Oaks, are all potential contenders. Other leading contenders in the breeders cup are Clairiere (trained by Steve Asmussen), Nest (trained by Todd Pletcher), and Blue Stripe (trained by Marcelo Polanco).

Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf

The Turf is a race for fillies and mares over 1 1/4 miles. European entries tend to fare better than their American counterparts in this race. Annually, Chad Brown takes the lead with multiple entries. We’re likely to see his Regal Glory this year. Dreamloper, Pearls Galore, Above The Curve, and Nashwa also show promise.

Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile

This race is a new addition to the Breeders’ Cup. However, previous years’ editions have been quite successful. Among this year’s contenders are Benevengo, Jack Christopher, and Laurel River.

Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint

There are currently only two possible horses listed for this dirt sprint. Michael McCarthy’s Ce Ce and Goodnight Olive are the only official entrants for this year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.

Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint

A large pool of horses is eligible to compete in this race. Lieutenant Dan is the local favorite, but he has to face off against other horses from the East Coast, such as Golden Pal. They should also expect heavy competition from a large number of Europeans.

Conclusion

Fans and spectators worldwide will gather in 2022 at historic Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky, for the Breeders’ Cup. With this guide, we hope you know what to expect and what factors to weigh if you want to either attend the race or bet on your preferred horses in the racing event.

Who are the Top Three-Year-Olds of 2022?

At the time of writing, in late April, 2022, none of the ‘Classic’ races, which define the British Flat racing season as far as the top three-year-olds are concerned, have yet been contested. Indeed, similar comments apply to all bar one or two of the traditional, early season Classic trials, so this article could, effectively, be titled ‘Top Two-Year-Olds of 2021’. Take a break from playing slots or any other gambling based hobby you have on the go and check out these top rated horses.

That said, the highest-rated juvenile of 2021, according to Timeform, Native Trail (122p), has already extended his unbeaten sequence to five with a cosy, 3½-length victory in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket on his reappearance in mid-April. Trainer Charlie Appleby declared himself ‘happy throughout’ with the ante-post 2,000 Guineas favourite, who is currently trading at even money for the first colts’ Classic, but was also ‘very pleased’ with how stable companion Coroebus worked in a racecourse gallop on the Rowley Mile the same day.

According to Timeform, Coroebus (116p) is rated a notch below Native Trail, but looked every inch a bona fide 2,000 Guineas contender when comfortably winning the Group 3 Autumn Stakes on the Rowley Mile last October. Like his stable companion, he is likely to make more than normal progress and should not be underestimated. Similar comments apply to Luxembourg (118p), who currently shares second favouritism for the 2,000 Guineas with Coroebus, at 5/1, but is outright favourite for the Derby, at 3/1. Trainer Aidan O’Brien has already said that ‘it’s a big ask for him [Luxembourg] to start off in a Guineas’, but added that the son of Camelot ‘finds it easy to go fast, which is a good sign’.

As far as top three-year-old fillies are concerned, Inspiral (116p), long-time ante-post favourite for the 1,000 Guineas on May 1, misses the race after an interrupted preparation and will reportedly be aimed at the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot instead. In her absence, the Cheveley Park Stakes winner, Tenebrism (115p), also trained by Aidan O’Brien has been promoted to favouritism, at 3/1 or thereabouts.
